So, about the most beautiful run I have EVER done:

Last Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain, we ran 12 miles through snowy woods.  So much snow! Well, there was some mud too.  But overall it was gorgeous.  I wished so badly that I had a camera (I will try and be better about this in the future).  The temperature was in the 40’s, which my body has decided is her favorite running temp.  This ridiculously beautiful scene does not happen often here in my southern town.  In my euphoria, I blurted out, to a runner I had never met before, “It feels like we are in another place!!!”  Seriously, Toto……….

I want to put a plug in for seeing your world in such a cool way as trail running, or even hiking.  Nothing makes me more serene than being in the woods… nothing.

Also, I am grateful for my Montrail Mountain Masochist trainers– Dear Trail Shoes, yes, you are a bit heavy, but how you got me through that icy, snowy, slushy, muddy run with barely a slip and not a single drop of moisture on my feet! Wow!!  My warm tootsies thank you!

And to you, Crystal Ball, will these types of runs be a regular thing in my future???……………….

This afternoon I went out for a run alone.  Just me and my super bad-ass friends (aka my playlist)- Cornell, de la Rocha, Keenan, Lemmy, to name a few.  I pretty much always run with a group and while I love my running group- dudes, you know I love you- I am missing those runs that clear my head and give me that release that I only get from running alone.  So, I am making a commitment to do this more often. What’s more, I went out with no planned route, no planned mileage, no foot pod… just me, the city, and my music.  So freeing!

Along with the clear head and million dollar feeling, I had a realization.  When I returned home, I mapped out what I did,  and it was nearly 7 miles!  Now, I ran longer than that only last Sunday, but that was on purpose, for training. This was a fun run… a 7 mile fun run!  As in, I did not mean to!! I’ve come a long way, baby!!

Waiting for me at home was this fabulous Paleo Jambalaya that I had made in the crockpot earlier.

Super sweet day (without sugar, hehe)!!!
